Born in Slovakia, since 2012 based in Netherlands, where she has her studio. Dzuráková studied glass design at Academy of Fine Arts and Design (AFAD) in Bratislava in Slovakia, as well as in the department of Metal and Jewel. Switching a direction in university education in 2006 emphasized in her work an unique handcrafted quality- her jewellery have modern sensibility; yet are honest to craft and old techniques.
After her graduation from Trier University of Applied Sciences in Germany (Gemstone and Jewellery Department) in 2012 Dzuráková started to work as an assistant of Estela Saez in Amsterdam in Netherlands.
For my jewellery I received in 2006 and 2008 Art Mention by Slovak Craft Council and my Graduation work was awarded with a scholarsphip for Young Professionals in Slovakia. Five months later I did follow the internship at Jewellery Studio of Estela Saez in Amsterdam. It was a great experience that speed up my learning process.
Since 2017 I have a seasonal job in biological greenhouse. It’s a precise work and because a I grew up in a family with vegetable garden of 1000 m2- I recognize the work. It also generates my regular income and makes an investing in my small jewellery business (in 2014 I opened my jewellery studio in Steenenkamer) much easier.
I work with silver, gold, I do repaire an old jewellery. It’s great to see how much time went into every jewellery piece made in the past. It is something I like to keep in mind. I like to think that every woman who wear my jewellery believe in an artisanal craftsmanship and its dignity.
Barbora Dzuráková took for 4 years a part ( since 2012) in Plateaus Jewellery Project: P. C. Domingues, K. Dettar, E. Tarín, that has shown her jewellery in Spain. Only shortly after exhibiting in Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands and USA.
