Barbora Dzuráková studied glass design at Academy of Fine Arts and Design (AFAD) in Bratislava in Slovakia, as well as in the department of Metal and Jewel. After her graduation from Trier University of Applied Sciences in Germany at Gemstone and Jewellery Department in 2012 Dzuráková started to work as an assistant of Estela Saez in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
For my jewellery I received in 2006 and 2008 Art Mention by Slovak Craft Council. In 2011 was my Graduation work awarded with a scholarsphip for Young Professionals in Slovakia.
Five months later I did follow an internship at Jewellery Studio of Estela Saez in Amsterdam. I ‘ve been working for her as studio assistant for 2 years. I focused on process of finalizing semi-precious stones and silver. I managed an administration tasks and I helped with building-up several jewellery exhibitions.
In 2014 I opened my jewellery studio in Steenenkamer where I live and have a garden. Since 2017 I work in a local biological greenhouse. It’s a precise work and because a I grew up in a family with vegetable garden of 1100 m2- it seems something very natural to do. I enjoy working with plants.
It is so fascinating, to apply one’s skills and after some time has passed, be able to see you did that well. Doing a good job gives me an energy, whatever it is about.
I like to think that every woman who wear my jewellery believe in an artisanal craftsmanship and its dignity.
Barbora Dzuráková took for 4 years a part ( since 2012) in Plateaus Jewellery Project: P. C. Domingues, K. Dettar, E. Tarín, that has shown her jewellery in Spain. Only shortly after exhibiting in Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands and USA.
